The transient was discovered on 18th April 2022 at 05:04:56 (MJD 59687.21) by ATLAS as ATLAS22mhs with a discovery magnitude of orange = 18.22. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.025.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J122538.07+071132.2; an r=15.95 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/DESI/PS1 catalogues. Its located 1.33" N, 4.52" E (2.4 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.025 implies a m - M = 35.20.
