The transient was discovered on 26th December 2017 at 03:05:45 (MJD 58113.13) by GaiaAlerts as Gaia17dkh with a discovery magnitude of G = 17.17. It was subsequently classified as a Gap at z = 0.008.
Sherlock Contextual Classification
Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with NGC4470; an r=12.38 mag galaxy found in the NED-D/SDSS/LASR/PS1 catalogues. Its located 10.02" N, 1.14" E (0.8 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 16.4 Mpc(z=0.008) implies a m - M = 31.07.
