The transient was discovered on 6th December 2024 at 12:59:56 (MJD 60650.54) by ZTF as ZTF24abxvcyp with a discovery magnitude of g = 20.60. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.077.

Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ122403.72%2B082438.5; an r=16.24 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1/DESI catalogues. Its located 1.82" N, 1.53" E (3.5 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.077 implies a m - M = 37.72.
