The transient was discovered on 5th May 2018 at 04:03:21 (MJD 58243.17) by ZTF as ZTF18aaphzut with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.76. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.086.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ122917.55%2B062027.9; an r=18.65 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1/DESI catalogues. Its located 0.02" S, 0.36" E from the galaxy centre. A host photoZ=0.129 (±0.026) implies a m - M = 38.90.
