The transient was discovered on 26th December 2017 at 03:05:45 (MJD 58113.13) by GaiaAlerts as Gaia17dkh with a discovery magnitude of G = 17.17. It was subsequently classified as a Gap at z = 0.008.
Sherlock Contextual Classification
Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with NGC4470; a J=10.88 mag galaxy found in the NED-D/SDSS/LASR/PS1/2MASS catalogues. Its located 8.56" N, 1.62" E (0.7 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 16.4 Mpc(z=0.008) implies a m - M = 31.07.
