The transient was discovered on 27th January 2022 at 10:49:26 (MJD 59606.45) by ATLAS as ATLAS22cwl with a discovery magnitude of orange = 18.97. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.043.

Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J100006.66+034524.7; a J=14.43 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/DESI/PS1/2MASS catalogues. Its located 4.03" N, 2.74" E from the galaxy centre. A host photoZ=0.039 (±0.006) implies a m - M = 36.15.
